What is it? Who is it for?

The Great Art Party is a fundraising event to support Floating Bridge Press. The press is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 1994 to support Washington State poets through publications and poetry readings. We’ve published over 200 Northwest poets, many for the first time, and produced over 100 poetry readings across the state. Now in its 14th year of operations, the press is holding its second annual fund raising event to create a permanent endowment fund* that will produce annual income and free the press from reliance on grants forever.

What happens?

Floating Bridge Press is procuring 100 works of art in all forms and media, such as paintings, prints, sculpture, even passes to performance arts such as opera, and theater. We will sell 100 event tickets ($300 Gold Tickets and $100 Premium Tickets). When the Party starts, we will draw tickets one by one; Gold Tickets will be drawn first. Each ticket holder will then approach the display and take the artwork they want most. Everyone goes home with art! (Last year artists donated work valued from $100 to $1,100!)

Simple, easy, no bidding and LOTS of fun! Last year’s event sold out by word-of-mouth alone.

Guest tickets will be sold for $25 for non-art-choosing attendees. A no-host bar will be available. Food and snacks will served. Scattered throughout the evening will have short, mini-performances including Girl Trouble Burlesque, a nationally-recognized performance poet and a special surprise.

*An endowment fund maintains a principal, interest-bearing balance that is never spent. Only the annual interest is withdrawn, leaving a permanent nest-egg for the future. The Floating Bridge Press Endowment Fund will be maintained by The Seattle Foundation.
